Supersized Warmth in October - Trending Wetter Into the Weekend
It's hard to become too indignant about our recent run of (bliss-worthy) weather with 70s and 80s extending into October. We're still in a serious drought, so weekend puddles will be welcome, in spite of sub-optimal timing. We are due for a few free lawn-waterings.

Yesterday's heavy showers push east today and the sun should pop out - temperatures close to 60F for the start of today's Twin Cities Marathon. A streak of sunny 70s are on tap into at least Wednesday, before an odd holding pattern squirts moisture from the east coast into Minnesota, increasing the chance of showers by late week. Today looks wetter than earlier thought with steady rain, as a slow moving disturbance passes overhead. We are stuck in a drought, so no whining about weekend puddles. Delayed Autumn: 80F on October 1 - Low 70s Expected First Week of October
It's been a very warm year (summer at MSP was 3.9F warmer than average - nationwide summer tied 1936 for the hottest on record, according to NOAA). So maybe it makes sense that a "cool front" in 2021 means 70s for highs. Winter is coming - but no time soon.

Cooler Slap Today But Temperatures May Run 10-15F Warmer Than Average Next Week
Water levels are still down; most of Minnesota still stuck in a slow-motion drought, so the definition of "nice weather" has morphed in recent months. We need rain, and today the atmosphere will only leak a few light showers on our heads - I don't see a significant rain event. Only the other kind of "nice weather" (sunshine, 70s, maybe even 80 degrees next week). Gentle reminder: I'm only the messenger.

Soggy Monday ahead
A cold front will blow through today with scattered showers and storms, some of which could be on the vigorous side. A few lucky backyard rain gauges could pick up a half an inch to an inch of water by this evening.

We have a cold front moving through Thursday and Thursday Night. That will spark off a round of storms, some of which could be strong, and another 0.5"-1" of rain across eastern and southern Minnesota.
