Icy Nuisance Snowfall Today - Plowable Snow Potential by Late Week
Monday's spasm of arctic air is fading a bit and a weak clipper-like system will squeeze out a coating of fluff today, just enough to ice up roads with temperatures creeping above 20F by afternoon. Quiet weather returns Wednesday and Thursday before a storm approaching from Denver pushes more snow into southern Minnesota (and possibly the metro area) Friday into Saturday morning. Whatever falls will probably melt next week as Pacific air guides the mercury close to 40F a few days next week.

Today: A Windblown Preview of January
The sun will be out today, but it won't help much: wind chills may dip to -10F early this morning with afternoon "highs" in the low teens. Invigorating. A coating of flurries may brush southern counties Tuesday. A mild blip Thursday gives way to snowy possibilities Saturday PM into Sunday, as a storm approaches from Colorado. Confidence levels are low this far out but ECMWF predicts plowable snow early next weekend.

Winter is Delayed But Not Canceled: Chilly Slap Next Week With Some Snow
Our autumnal weather honeymoon has been quite remarkable (tie for 4th warmest September - November period on record in the Twin Cities) with an unusual number of sunny days. Alas, things are about to change. Next week will be cold enough for snow, and it appears frozen water is on the way, coming in a few waves of low pressure next week. Enjoy your green lawn, odds are you won't be able to see it next week.

Mild Bias Continues Next 10 Days - Some Snow Up North Next Week
Stop me if you've heard this before: temperatures trend milder than average this week with low 50s on the 1st day of December (and a few rain showers). Adding insult to injury for winter weather (snow) lovers. One thing I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving is a quiet holiday weatherwise. Thursday will be the coldest so far this season with highs stuck in the 20s, feeling like the teens with a stiff northwest breeze - a good day to stay inside and eat some turkey and mashed potatoes. Snow Drought Hangs On - Green Thanksgiving Expected This Year
Good news for travelers looking out into the Thanksgiving weekend; bad news for people who love to romp in the snow. The pattern won't favor piles of frozen water anytime soon. Gusty winds? Absolutely. A temperature roller coaster? Yep. But Old Man Winter should continue to pull his punch into late November, based on everything I'm seeing.
