A problem with electrical wiring is apparently what led to a fire that severely damaged 60 units of a Plymouth apartment complex last week, authorities said Friday.
That's the conclusion of an investigation, Plymouth Fire Chief Rick Klein said.
"The fire appears to have started in the attic area and was caused by failure of electrical wiring in one or more places."
No one was injured in the blaze July 12 at the Plymouth Oaks Apartments, but several residents lost pets that were trapped in the burning three-story building in the 3300 block of Hwy. 169.
The Red Cross assisted 27 families displaced by the fire, which Klein estimated did $4 million damage.
