What's wrong with this picture?

We photographed this comfortably contemporary bedroom at the Thomasville store in Woodbury, then added one clunker. Have you found it?

WHAT DOESN'T WORK?

With its old-world look, ornate shape and traditional shade, the iron-scroll lamp is terribly out of place in this clean-lined bedroom, according to interior designer Robin Strangis.

WHAT DOES WORK?

With a more suitable lamp, this room works because it has:

Consistency. The subtle pale blue, brown and beige colors blend beautifully, the furniture is of the same scale and all the pieces are clearly contemporary.

Shape: From the gently curved sofa to the rectangular dresser lamps, shape gives character to the furnishings. There is no added ornamentation.

Finishing touches: The gold accessories and hardware make a perfect contrast to the dark wood tones, the wood on the framed prints echoes the wood of the night stand and dresser, and the shimmery vases and star-burst mirror add a hint of glitz.

What's in the room: King-size Nocturne bed$1,599

Dresser$1,569

Nocturne nightstand$1,399

Mirror (over dresser)$599

Sofa$2,039

Gold star-burst mirror$267

Brown ceramic lamp$399

Square lamps$529 each

Framed prints$252 each

Vases$64-$77

Iron scroll lamp$269.

Note: All items from Thomasville
