An Indiana college student from the Twin Cities was found dead in his dorm room, and authorities are saying that his death was an accident.

The body of Josh Larkin, 21, of Excelsior and a graduate of Southwest Christian High School in Chaska, was discovered Wednesday by another student alone in his room at Taylor University in the east-central Indiana city of Upland, the school said.

Along with determining that Larkin's death was an accident, the Grant County coroner's preliminary findings have ruled out suicide. Further details were expected pending additional investigation.

A memorial service on campus is scheduled for Tuesday, when students return from a brief Easter break.

Larkin, a junior who played trumpet in the school's jazz ensemble, was studying media/communications. He also recently went to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah with fellow students as part of his studies, said Taylor spokesman Jim Garringer.

As a sophomore, Larkin was a member of the school chapel's praise and worship team.

During a gathering Wednesday night on campus to mourn Larkin's death, Garringer said it became evident "just how many people were profoundly impacted by Josh's death."

Larkin's sister Molly is a 2010 graduate of Taylor.

"Our hearts and our thoughts and our prayers are with the Larkin family," Garringer said. "There just are no words."

Taylor University was founded in 1846 and is one of the nation's oldest evangelical colleges. It's current enrollment is about 2,500.
