Weather Models: A Few Slushy Encounters

The pattern looks March-like into next week with a few showers today, ending as a slushy mix Tuesday. Plowable snow is expected over the Red River Valley. ECMWF spins up another slushy event roughly one week out, but I'm not panicked (yet). Check the blog for more details. Todd Nelson

Clouds Stick Around Sunday, With Rain Chances Returning Sunday Night Into Monday

While the clouds are sticking around (for the most part) through the second half of the weekend, at least we are getting a break in the rainfall department after about an inch and a half of rain this past week. However, precipitation will return to the Twin Cities to begin the work week. - D.J. Kayser

Raw Friday - Chilly Relapse Next Week With Slushy Possibilities Tuesday

It's been a soggy week (but your lawn is loving it) and skies should dry out in time for a seasonably cool weekend. Jackets return much of next week with a slight slush risk on Tuesday, but models suggest another inevitable surge of milder air later in April.

Easter Sunday Sunrise

Record Warmth Today; Followed By PM Severe Threat

A flawless Easter weekend gives way to a shot at 80 degrees later today. A swarm of thunderstorms tonight signals the arrival of slightly cooler air Tuesday. A southern storm spreads a pinwheel of rainy spokes into Minnesota late Tuesday into Saturday. ECMWF predicts 1-2 inch rainfall totals by Saturday, and 3" isn't out of the question south/west of MSP. Wednesday and Thursday appear to be the two wettest days right now. Check the blog for more details. -Todd Nelson

Quiet, Warm Weather For Easter Sunday - Heavier Rain For The Work Week

Last year it snowed 6.6" of snow on Easter Sunday. This year? It should be fairly sunny with highs in the mid-70s. However, we are watching the potential for some strong storms Monday Night and heavy rain for the middle of the work week. - D.J. Kayser

A Pleasant, Warm Easter Weekend

A Pleasant, Warm Easter Weekend

For once, we don't really have any weather to track heading into the holiday weekend. Very pleasant weather is expected, with a few more clouds for Easter Sunday vs. Saturday. Highs will be in the 70s - a far cry from the 6.6" of snow we saw last Easter! Click for more details. - D.J. Kayser

More May Than April: First Taste of Summer Arrives This Weekend

A run of 70s in early April? Maybe it's "fake spring" but who cares? By Easter Sunday and Monday temperatures will be roughly 90 degrees warmer than they were back in February. We are probably due for an early glimpse of summer.

Sunday Sunrise

Very Warm & Very Windy Monday Ahead

Monday's surge of warmth will be accompanied by wind gusts as high as 40 mph. The greater the swing in temperature, the faster the winds have to blow. As quickly as the mercury mellows today, it'll tumble tomorrow, holding in the 30s midweek. 60s return by late week and NOAA's GFS model insists we'll see 70F again next week.

Drier, Sunnier Sunday - Quite Warm And Windy Weather Awaits Monday

I have no doubt it's going to feel like a temperature roller coaster the next several days, with highs in the low 70s Monday but then the upper 30s Wednesday. The good news is that Sunday will be drier (and sunnier) than Saturday, with highs a few degrees above average. Click for more details - D.J. Kayser

James Spann Reacts to Home Being Hit By Tornado

Soggy Saturday, Sunny Sunday & 70s on Monday?

March 2021 has been a warm and somewhat soggy month for us. Minneapolis is running nearly +9 degrees above average, which is the 8th warmest on record. We're also more than 1 inch above average in the precipitation department with more rain expected today. Sunday will be the brighter, better day of the weekend with above average temps once again. A windy Monday could feature our first 70 degree high of the year! Check the blog for more details. -Todd Nelson

Mild Winds Give Way To Soaking Rains

Strained sunshine lures the mercury close to 60F this afternoon. South winds may gust to 40 mph at times. But I'll fixate on alack of bugs, allergies and humidity. As much as an inch of rain may douse the area Tuesday & Wednesday, ending as slush up north. Weather models predict plowable amounts near Brainerd and the Arrowhead. No-Bug Weather Bliss Into Sunday AM - Slushy Possibilities Next Week

The bugs have yet to get a text reminding them how amazing Minnesota is, so we can enjoy brilliant sunshine without distractions for the next few days. A touch of April lingers into Sunday before another inevitable correction next week. Don't pack away the driveway stakes just yet.
