Like father, like daughter

Erin Lee Carr, who was raised in the Twin Cities by the late writer and editor David Carr, travels the country to bring viewers details of one of the most bizarre cases of murder you've ever heard. "Mommy Dead and Dearest" is a top-notch documentary, one that suggests the daughter is well on her way to living up to her father's high standards.

9 p.m., HBO

Computer overlord

Laurence Fishburne will give you the chills as he narrates "Year Million," a new series that imagines a future more mind-blowing than anything that H.G. Wells ever imagined. In the first episode, the world has been taken over by robots and androids that have more on their minds than helping out Luke Skywalker.

8 p.m., National Geographic

Wild about Harry

Harry Styles may be a teen idol, but he has respect for his elders. The One Direction heartthrob once spent a year crashing with Ben Winston, producer for "The Late Late Show With James Corden." Styles returns the favor by taking up a weeklong residency on the series.

11:35 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4
