By all accounts it has been another stellar fishing season in Minnesota. Walleyes, muskies, bass, trout, panfish -- you name it, you've caught it. Some ended up in a pan, fried golden brown. Others were released to fight another day. But the fun has to end sometime. For our Wednesday fishing page, today is the day. Starting next week, our Wednesday Outdoors page will return with coverage of hunting, conservation, natural resources, outdoor recreation -- and fishing. Thanks to the hundreds of people who submitted photos and fish tales this season.

BEGINNER'S LUCK? "I was fishing for muskies for the first time in my life and just learned to cast with a bait caster on a lake near Longville, [Dad said to keep it a secret]," said Aaron Johnson, 13, of Shorewood. "I was casting towards the reeds when the fish hit. I told my dad to get the net and then yelled, 'It's a whale!' when the muskie jumped out of the water. I fought it for 6 minutes, and my arms got super tired. Finally Dad netted the 48-inch monster. We released it and the fish swam away, so I can catch it again."

FIRST MUSKIE: Sharla Kuehl of Shakopee hit paydirt on her first muskie fishing trip on Lake Mille Lacs this summer. After only two hours, she caught and released this 45-incher.

BASS BUSTER: Eight-year-old Evan Middag of Savage caught and released this nice largemouth bass on Lake Minnetonka while crappie fishing. "It would almost make it to the boat, then it would try to get away again, taking more line," Evan said. "Finally the fish made it into the boat because it got tired''

KISS GOODBYE: Ryan O'Connor, 10, of Savage was fishing in 3 feet of water off a dock in Crow Wing Lake looking for sunfish when this 24-inch northern hit. His brother and cousin almost convinced him that he was hooked on a log or the dock. After landing it and snapping some photos, Ryan released it.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
