Lynx-Indiana game preview

  • Updated: September 16, 2012 - 10:09 PM

Preview: The Lynx took the first of two consecutive games against Indiana in the Fever's house and now will try to keep the advantage in their own building. Friday was the first time this season the teams met.

Lynx at a glance: A loss a week ago at Chicago quickly was put into the past as Minnesota sneaked past Indiana 66-64 on Friday via a last-second fade-away jumper from Lindsay Whalen. The Lynx will try to build on the momentum on Monday in their last home game of the regular season, before hitting the road for their final three -- including West foes San Antonio and Los Angeles. With Friday's victory, and Connecticut's loss to Los Angeles, the Lynx clinched the overall No. 1 seed, meaning they will keep home advantage all the way through the playoffs.

Indiana at a glance: Holding second place in the East, the Fever's spot in the playoffs is already set, but with four games remaining, Indiana still has the ability to overtake Connecticut for the East's No. 1 seed. After Minnesota, the Fever heads to Connecticut and Washington before closing out against Tulsa at home. Indiana lost a heartbreaker at home against the Lynx on Friday but got double-digit scoring from four players, including Tamika Catchings (14 points, 12 rebounds), who is averaging 18 points and 8.8 rebounds in her past four games.
