Gophers (12-7, 1-5) at a glance: The Gophers ended their 0-5 conference start — the program's worst since the 2005-06 season — with an 89-80 victory over Rutgers on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights shot 57.1 percent in the second half, but previously slumping senior G Andre Hollins carried Minnesota with 31 points, the second-highest total of his career and the most he's scored since his sophomore season. Nebraska (10-7, 2-3) at a glance: The Cornhuskers were within four points of then-No. 7 Wisconsin with 16:30 left on Thursday in Madison, but a 13-0 Badgers' run eradicated any hope of an upset. Nebraska lost 70-55 in what coach Tim Miles called his team's worst defensive performance. Before the loss, Nebraska had put together a two-game winning streak against Rutgers and Illinois at home, where the Huskers are 2-1 in conference play. Terran Petteway is the Big Ten's second-best scorer with 19.4 points per game, and Shavon Shields adds 16.5 points and 6.6 rebounds. Nebraska has the second-best three-point defense in the league, allowing opponents to shoot just 29.1 percent from beyond the arc.
