WATERFORD, Wis. — Authorities say 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel has spilled from a Canadian National Railway train in Racine County.

Waterford Fire Chief Richard Mueller says the train hit a piece of metal on the tracks which punctured a diesel tank, causing the spill about 10 p.m. Sunday.

Mueller tells WTMJ-TV (http://bit.ly/1rV0q5Q ) crews were able to clean up about 1,600 gallons of fuel and the rest soaked into the ground. He says the oil that seeped into the ground will be cleaned up in the next 24 hours. He says typically the contaminated soil is replaced with new dirt.
