Even though a hit-and-run has been ruled out, a vehicle is being sought in connection with the discovery of a man who was found bleeding along a main thoroughfare in Fridley, authorities said.

A motorist spotted the 23-year-old man about 2:30 a.m. Saturday on the east side of the 7300 block of Hwy. 65, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

He was lying along a stretch of the four-lane highway that is dotted with gas stations, mobile home parks and a self-storage business.

The man, whose identity has yet to be released, was last reported to be in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center with head injuries "but no other injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement Monday.

The Sheriff's Office describes the "possible vehicle of interest" as a 2007-2012 black Cadillac Escalade, with fresh rear-end damage. The driver is male, but the rest of the description is vague.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to call 763-427-1212.
