2005: Northeastern hires Richard Pitino as an assistant. He spends a season there before following coach Ron Everhart to Duquesne after Everhart is named the head coach.
2007: Pitino's father, Rick, hires Richard as an assistant at Louisville. He spends two years there before being hired in 2009 as an assistant at Florida.
2011: Louisville hires Pitino back, this time as an associate head coach. The Cards go 30-10 and reach the Final Four.
2012: Pitino gets his first head coaching chance, signing a five-year contract at Florida International. He leads FIU to its first winning record (18-14) since the 1999-2000 season.
2013: Minnesota hires Pitino, who sets the school record for wins (25) in his first year. The Gophers are 26-38 since that season.
