Dandelions and history

Minnesota's oldest surviving wood-frame home, the Ard Godfrey House built in 1849, is celebrating spring with "Dandelion Day." The event marks Harriet Godfrey's introduction of dandelion seeds to the St. Anthony Falls area. Learn how to make dandelion necklaces, bracelets and crowns, and take home a free booklet with recipes for dandelion coffee, tea, salad and wine. Visitors also can tour the house, led by hostesses dressed in 1850s period costumes. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Dandelion Day will be celebrated 1 to 4 p.m. May 21 at the house, at the corner of University and Central avenues SE. in Chute Square, Minneapolis.
