"A Night at the Movies" is the theme of the Richfield Chamber of Commerce's Annual Gala scheduled for Oct. 19.
The event, which runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Minnesota Valley Country Club at 6300 Auto Club Road in Bloomington, is the chamber's biggest fundraiser. It will feature a dinner, awards and movie-themed games.
Participants are encouraged to wear red-carpet attire or dress as their favorite movie star. Pre-registration is required.
Tickets are $60 per person or $440 per table, with game tickets $25 for five. Unlimited game tickets can be purchased ahead of time only for $45 each.

The Deephaven Historical Society will host a fall colors cruise on Lake Minnetonka from 3-5 p.m. Sunday aboard the "paddle wheeler" Lady of the Lake.
Local historian Scott McGinnis will speak about the old steamboats of the lake.

By popular demand, a talk about the stars in the fall skies is making a return engagement at the Golden Valley Library at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23.
Bill Arden of Augsburg College will talk about animals and mythologies in the constellations, including love stories and adventures. If the skies are clear and the weather is good, part of the presentation will be outside.
Kids ages 8 and older are welcome. Refreshments will be served at 6:15 p.m. Registration with the Golden Valley Seniors is required by Oct. 18 at 763-512-2339.
Singer-songwriter Michael Johnson will introduce "Moonlit Déjà Vu," his latest recording with Red House Records, at a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet in Hopkins.
