An inmate at the Hennepin County jail died Monday after an apparent in-cell suicide attempt, authorities said.

The inmate, a 25-year-old woman, was found unresponsive in her cell at about 1 p.m., according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Lisa Kiava. The inmate had apparently attempted suicide, but the sheriff's office provided no further details.

Deputies immediately began CPR and paramedics continued emergency treatment as she was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, Kiava said in a news release.

The woman, whose name has not been released, had been in jail for approximately one month after being arrested by Bloomington police. She had been charged with aggravated robbery.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time," said Hennepin County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mike Carlson.

The Hennepin County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.
