A 38-year-old man from Cass Lake, Minn., died Friday night when his vehicle was struck by a semi tractor in Cass County.
At about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Brian Northbird was driving eastbound on Hwy. 2 east of Cass Lake near Stoney Point Road when he passed a semi on the right-hand side and then turned left in front of the semi, which hit him, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Upon impact, both vehicles went into the westbound ditch.
Northbird was not wearing a seatbelt, the patrol said.
The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.
Road conditions were icy at the time, the patrol said.
