Word of the Week: Fignature

July 5, 2016 at 5:29PM

Definition: A signature done on a touch screen with your finger. (Merriam-Webster online)

Sample usage: "Please scribble your illegible fignature here to complete the illusion of security on this credit card transaction."

Popularity: Meh. "Dignature" would be better because it combines the meanings of "digital" for electronic and "digit" for finger with "signature." If you ask for a "fignature and date," it sounds like something you'd eat.
