Wonder woman
"Marvel's Agent Carter" flexes her muscle and brainpower in a new series that opens with two episodes. Hayley Atwell reprises her role from "The Avengers" movies, heading out on secret missions as a single woman in the 1940s. Look for a cameo from Marvel magnate Stan Lee this month. 7 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5
The Sundance Kid
Robert Redford is TCM's star of the month, which means plenty of popular films every Tuesday in January. The bar is set high with "The Sting" (7 p.m.) and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (9:15 p.m.), but stick around for the soul-searching western "Jeremiah Johnson" (11:15 p.m.), which features breathtaking camera work and performances.
People are strange
The early days of television bred some unlikely stars, not the least of which was Robert Ripley, a former sports cartoonist whose curiosity about the world's most unusual people led him to ask viewers to "believe it or not." The latest edition of "American Experience" does a bang-up job of presenting the foibles and flaws of a showman who thoroughly enjoyed his fame. 8 p.m. TPT, Ch. 2
