At lower temperatures, snow contains a lot of air space. Therefore, given thesame amount of water content, snow accumulations in very cold conditions aremuch greater than when the temperature is close to the freezing mark. When itis in the teens or colder, the ratio can be as much as 30 to 1. In other words, one inch of water would yield 30 inches of snow.A great benefit of getting snow when it's real cold is that it is light andfluffy and much easier to shovel than heavy wet snow.
