The Dallas-Fort Worth area was slammed by dangerous storms with heavydownpours, damaging winds and even a tornado during the afternoon. During theafternoon and overnight, storms again slammed Houston with rain, resulting inserious flooding.An EF1 tornado touched down in western Corsicana, Texas, just 50 miles southof Dallas on Monday afternoon and collapsed part of the roof of a schoolbuilding. Teachers had to scramble and hide under a table, and students weresent home early; fortunately, no one was injured. Nine other structures andtrees close to the school were also damaged.

According to the Houston Chronicle, some parts of the Houston area receivedupwards of 4 inches of rain in just an hour overnight. Western parts of HarrisCounty were hit the hardest with 6-8 inches of rain falling over a short periodof time.

Roadways have become covered with water or even impassible throughout theregion, which will make the morning commute hazardous and difficult. Just southof Interstate 10, a lane of the West Sam Houston Tollway was blocked by highwater early this morning.
