The best movie I've seen in the past year? "Soul Surfer."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Welcome to my Life" by Simple Plan; "Gold Digger" by Kanye West; "I'mma Shine" by Youngbloodz.

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Energetic; happy; positive.

How did you get started in sports? I did gymnastics and soccer when I was younger. Once I started playing tennis, I was hooked.

How do you balance school and sports? During the school year I set strict boundaries for my school life. I always start my homework first thing when I get home and I don't allow myself to go out until I am completely done. I stay relaxed and always get my stuff done.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... honored to be part of a team that I had always looked up to. Many of the players were my sister's good friends and so they liked to tease me.

Favorite meal before a match? Oreo cookies.

To get focused for a match, I ... sit in my car, blast my music up to the max and sing my heart out.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? Fish for walleyes up north.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? From my coach, Craig Gordon: "Believe in yourself."

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
