Long live the king

With David Letterman's retirement still fresh on our minds, it's a good time to re-visit the departure that really shook up the TV world. An "American Masters" repeat covering Johnny Carson's reign is a little heavy on his personal life, but there are enough clips from his legendary show to give you a warm glow. 8 p.m. TPT, Ch. 2

The real thing

"UnReal," which premiered last month, is a knowing, scathing takedown of reality shows that butter up and booze up young women to make them look like one-dimensional cartoon characters. Sheri Appleby plays the morally torn producer who's a genius at corrupting contestants, even as her "gift" is breaking her heart. You'll never watch "The Bachelor" — or Lifetime — the same way again. 9 p.m. Lifetime

The long goodbye

"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" will air original episodes for the next three weeks, all leading up to the host's final episode. "Ant-Man" star Paul Rudd starts the countdown with the threat that if Stewart doesn't stay, he'll be pierced mercilessly with deadly antennae. 10 p.m. Comedy Central
