Look at these departures! Incredible, simply incredible! You'll never seeanything like this during the summer, though. Why? Because it's almostimpossible for the atmosphere to generate temperatures 20 degrees above normalin July when it's already hot. It's much easier to accomplish that feat inApril and May when the normals are still relatively low.One question on everyone's mind is, has it been this hot in April. I am hereto tell you that I was witness to the hot blast that occurred on the EasterWeekend in 1976. That barn burner produced 90-degree-plus temperatureseverywhere from the Midwest to New England. In New York City, it reached 96during that heat wave, and Boston recorded 94.

From southern Ohio to southern New England, the heat will be on for anotherday, then temperatures will be significantly lower on Wednesday.
