Andrew France is performing at a high level this year for the boys' swim team. He was a part of a 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished fourth at state last year, and he hoped to build on that going into this weekend's section meet.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Seeing my name up on the All-American banner at our pool. Seeing that was pretty rewarding because All-American is something really hard to get to. I got up there with the help of my relay team, which were some good friends of mine, and also my older brother Nathan [was on the team].

What are your goals with the season winding down? Individually, a goal for me to is to place pretty high in sections and state. I'm hoping to win sections for the 50 freestyle, but it's going to be really close with the Rosemount guys. In state, it'd be nice to place in the top eight for both 50- and 100-yard freestyle.

What are your team goals? It would be nice to see one relay team make state. It'd be nice to see some of the younger guys experience sections.

What did you do in the offseason to prepare for this season? It's generally swimming year-round. My brother and I have always swam the past five years. We've been swimming seven days a week through a club in Burnsville called Black Dog.

How long have you been swimming? I started in the sixth grade competitively. My older brother Nathan dragged me into it.

What is your favorite movie? The new Sherlock Holmes movie.

Do you have a secret talent? At some parties, we play "Super Smash Bros." [for Nintendo GameCube]; I'm pretty good at that. I try to be modest about it.
