Fashion's Night Out began in New York in 2009 to stir up excitement for shopping during the recession, with a heavy dose of designer and celebrity appearances. While Minnesota may have substantially fewer designers per capita, this year's local edition of Fashion's Night Out is bigger than ever. Neiman Marcus is hosting an in-store fall-trend fashion show plus MNfashion pop-up shops from designers Emma Berg, Christopher Straub, Danielle Everine and Amanda Christine. (5:30-8 p.m. next Thu. Free, RSVP to RSVPMinneapolis@neimanmarcus.com or 612-334-7505. 505 Nicollet Mall, Mpls.)

Among Galleria stores hosting events are designer accessories shop StyledLife, which will have drag-queen door greeters, prizes, discounts on jewelry and a guest appearance by designer Hazel Matthys. (5-9 p.m. next Thu. 3635 Galleria, 69th St. and France Av. S., Edina.)

Macy's in downtown Minneapolis will host a fashion show previewing fall looks, plus a cupcake bar, male models roaming the floor in Calvin Klein underwear (!) and free makeup applications from Chanel. (6-11 p.m. next Thu. 700 Nicollet Mall, Mpls.)
