Brackney, John David Age 63, of Burnsville, MN (formerly of West Palm Beach, FL) passed away far too soon, at home, on December 3, 2013, after a hard fought battle with lung cancer. Cogswell, Roy Edgar was born June 15th, 1929 in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended school in Piper, Kansas. He married LoWanna Peters on June 12th, 1949 in Kansas City. They had three children, Royceann, Kathleen and Lance. He worked in management for Armour and Co. Meat Packers for 20 years. Roy's transfer with Armour and Co. led them to Minnesota where they made their home in Bloomington. In 1971, Roy decided to go into business for himself and acquired a Standard Oil Co. (Amoco) Service Station Dealership in Burnsville. It quickly grew into the first million gallon dealership in Minnesota. After 20 years, he sold the dealership which he successfully managed. Roy was active in the Burnsville Rotary Club for approximately 35 years. Preceded in death by wife, LoWanna; parents, Wayne and Ruth; siblings, David and Carol Faye. Survived by his children, Royceann of Minneapolis, Kathleen (John) Vig of Shakopee, and Lance of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Nancy of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Amy, Amber, Keeli, Mallori, Brian, Kevin, Amy, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Elaina and Jack. Also survived by his wife, Judy and her children, Kathy (Matt) of Robbinsdale, John (Kim) of Lakeland; grandchildren, Marty and Jack; his siblings, Harold, Barbara and Susie (Bill); sister-in-law, Reva, and many special friends and family. Roy died on December 2, 2013 at the age of 84 from complications of prostate, bladder, kidney and lung cancer. For the past 18 years he always fought a courageous battle with his cancer. He did so with dignity, grace and a sense of humor and always continued to embrace life with his new health challenges, with never a complaint. Roy will always be remembered for his love of music and playing his player piano and singing his famous rendition of "Peg of My Heart" to the ladies. He was a skilled carpenter and built two houses in his lifetime. He loved feeding and enjoying birds, gardening, flowers, and any wood working project, which he always perfected. One of his greatest joys in life was helping others. Roy was always a kind, patient, caring, loving, and gentle man, and a true gentleman at all times. We were both forever grateful and felt very blessed to have found love a second time. He was a blessing to anyone who was fortunate to have known him. Hanson, Sue V. Age 97, of Burnsville, formerly of St. Anthony. Sue passed away on December 4, 2013. She was born in Palmer, Nebraska and was raised in Minnesota by her parents John and Agnes Bosak along with 10 siblings, Mike, Joe, Leo, Adolph, Ben, Vic, Johnnie, Eddie, Cliff and Clara. In 1941, she married Don Hanson, her husband of 67 years. They travelled and moved throughout their marriage to California, Minnesota, and Washington D.C., raising their children Dennis, Donna, and Cindy. She was very active in her community and her church. She was a devoted Catholic whose faith was her guiding light in life. Her enthusiasm, joy of life, and adventurous spirit will be missed by all who knew her and she inspires those she leaves behind. Hesse, Edward "Ed" Ed passed away peacefully from several complications on November 28, 2013. He was born on the family farm near Mindoro, WI on March 25, 1916 to Fredrick Dietrich Hesse & Wilhelmina Marie Kastenschmidt (both from Germany), who died when Ed was 14 yrs old. Ed was a graduate of West Salem High School and La Crosse Business College. He served with distinction as an Administration Inspector, with the Army Air Corps in Italy during and after WWII. His long business career finished as manufacturing accountant for Owens, Illinois, over 30 years ago. Ed was a photographer, an accomplished graphologist, an avid traveler, and philanthropist. He enjoyed flower gardening, spending summers on the lake near Osage MN and socializing, (listening and talking to people). He had numerous friends and along with his wife received a best neighbor award. But, mostly he enjoyed being with his family. Ed's strong Lutheran orientation to God and to St. James Lutheran Church was cultivated in the small German speaking church in his home town. He long ago embraced his faith and his future with God, but this true gentleman will still be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence (McLaughlin) and his wife Isabel (Snyder), his parents and brothers: Bernhard, Harry, Arthur, Arnold & Elmer. He is survived by numerous nephews & nieces, grand nephews & nieces and great-grand nephews & nieces. Luger, Clare Elizabeth (Mergens, Werdan) age 79 of Burnsville entered the arms of Jesus on November 22nd, 2013. Born on December 10th, 1933 in Bismark North Dakota. Preceded in death by parents Cyril and Leoma, brothers Bud and Tom, sister Rita, and son Tommy. She loved pancakes, playing cards with her grandchildren, loved watching hockey and golf on T.V., and enjoyed travel adventures with her husband and most of all spending time with friends and family. She was deeply involved in Alcoholics Anonymous and over the past 34 years mentored, sponsored and encouraged 100's of women and youth in their journey through recovery from addiction. In her 79 years of life on earth, she was accepting of and touched the hearts and lives of everyone she came into contact with. She had a beautiful smile and a listening ear that never grew tired and was a devoted friend to "the girls", for over 75 years. Lipszyc, Jose age 69, of Burnsville, passed away on Sunday, November 17th after a battle with cancer. Jose grew up in Brazil and worked management and sales at Saks, Neiman Marcus, and Harold's in Minneapolis. Jose had a love for soccer and politics but his ultimate passion and joy in life were his children and grandchildren. Jose defined what it is to love unconditionally and his unwavering devotion to his family and friends was evident to all. His personality, compassion, humor, sweetness, and charisma touched everyone he was around. Preceded in death by mother Fela and father Juri. DeMar, Betty F. (Hungerford) of Burnsville, MN passed away into The Lord's hands on Saturday November 16th, 2013. Betty was born in Osage, IA on November 30th, 1927 to the late Roy and Winnie Hungerford. Betty graduated from Osage High School in 1945. Betty lived most of her adult life in Bloomington, MN, while working for nearly thirty years for Bloomington Public Schools. Betty was a member of St. Richards Catholic Church. Betty is survived by her son Jeff DeMar and wife Jeri. Grandson Mike DeMar and wife Tracy, and Granddaughter Maggie DeMar. Along with Sister-in-Law Wilma Hungerford and many nieces and nephews.
