Parts of the interior Northeast could be in for a rude awakening onSaturday.A large pocket of unseasonably cold air will drop into the Northeast Friday andSaturday. A storm will then form off the New England coast on Saturday, spreading precipitation across the region. The air might be just cold enough atelevations above 1,000 feet for accumulating snow Saturday or Saturday night, while a cold rain falls at lower elevations.

The best chance for heavier snow will be from the Adirondacks of New York tothe Green Mountains of Vermont. Any snow that does accumulate should mostly beconfined to non-paved surfaces, but poor visibility will hamper travel acrossthe region during the period.
