Greetings. Youngblood here, again, with some thoughts after the Wolves, in front of 12,665 fans -- including Kris Humphries' GF Kim Kardashian -- beat the Wolves with a wicket second half.

First: I don't know, exactly, the tone Wolves coach Kurt Rambis takes with his guys, either during practice, before games or at halftime. But it appears Rambis was rather forceful at halftime Saturday, letting his guys know they needed to play better defense after letting a struggling Nets team shoot 53.5 percent from the field while taking a 55-54 halftime lead.

Kevin Love said he'd be rich if he got $100 for every time Rambis used a four-letter word in that speech, which energized the team.

The team listened. Now I know that shutting down a team of the Nets caliber is nothing special. But, in the second half, the Wolves defense was very good. The Nets got nine third-quarter points, shot 33 percent and got 33 points total in the second half. Both the quarter and half scoring figures are season-lows for Wolves opponents.

So what happened? A couple things. First, Corey Brewer came off the bench and did a nice job of cooling off Sasha Vujacic, who had killed the Wolves in the first half. Brewer turned out to be the only guy who could keep himself attached to Vujacic as he flew around the half-court, running off picks. But the Wolves also improved -- a lot -- in their weak-side defense.

Some other thoughts from the Wolves' third win in four games:

1. Backup center Nikola Pekovic continues to improve. He's still a bull in a china shop at times. But Saturday, when Darko had to sit after picking up early fouls, Pekovic came on and played well. He scored eight points and had five rebounds and was part of a backup center tandem -- with Kosta Koufos -- that totaled 13 points and nine rebounds. In all, the Wolves got 29 points (on 12-for-16 shooting), 11 rebounds, three assists and a block out of the center position Saturday.

2. Kudos to Sebastian Telford, who returned to significant action due to Jonny Flynn's sprained ankle. Telford had played once, for less than three minutes, in the nine games since Flynn's return. But Telford -- battling a sore foot -- played 15 1/2 minutes, with eight points and an assist. Six of those points -- on 3-of-4 shooting -- came in the fourth quarter.

3. I think it's a good sign that the Wolves won, relatively easily, with Michael Beasley being rather ineffective. Beasley scored 10 points, but got only two points on less than 12 minutes of play in the second half. Rambis said Beasley wasn't getting the ball where he's comfortable in the game.

That's about it for tonight. Jerry will pick up the team tomorrow and carry that on to Boston. Have a good night.
