Vikings' Adrian Peterson to vouch for Leslie Frazier's job

Posted by: Master Tesfatsion Updated: December 29, 2013 - 4:24 PM

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was one of many players that backed head coach Leslie Frazier after the 14-13 season-finale win over the Lions at the Metrodome.

Peterson, however, plans to discuss the matter with the front office on Monday. He said he’s talked briefly with the Wifs about Frazier’s job status before this season, but he will voice his opinion again on what’s commonly known around the league as “Black Monday” due to all the firings that occur the day after the regular season.

“They’re going to do what’s best for the organization; all I can do is tell them how I feel,” Peterson said.

Frazier took over in 2010 as interim head coach and earned the full-time position in the offseason. He’s 21-32-1 in 53 games as the head coach with just one winning season and playoff appearance last year (10-6).

“He’s a man of God first off, a great coach,” Peterson said. “You sit there and listen to him talk, I do it every time we’re in meetings, you’re always gaining great knowledge from him.”

Peterson expanded on the conversation he plans to have also emphasizing that he wants to be informed on the direction of the franchise heading into the offseason with veteran free agents like defensive tackle Kevin Williams and defensive end Jared Allen.

“I hope those guys be around,” Peterson said. “It definitely [stinks] to lose Jared and that personality and big Kevin Williams, who’s been going for 11 years strong. Those are things I want to find out – what’s going on in which direction. I know a lot of guys at the end of their contracts. The whole team could be shaken up a little bit this offseason. If those guys aren’t here, it’ll be a tough blow for us.”
