Stollings faces her old school at the Barn

Preview: Gophers coach Marlene Stollings faces her former team for the second time. The Gophers beat the Rams 79-69 in Richmond, Va., last season. The Gophers (2-0) are coming off an 82-60 victory at Rhode Island on Monday. They had six players score between seven and 22 points. VCU, coming off a 16-15 season, opened its season on Sunday with a 66-52 loss to Norfolk State. The Rams' top five scorers from last season all graduated. Ten of their 12 players are freshmen or sophomores.

Players to watch: Gophers G Kenisha Bell had 22 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on Monday. Freshman G/F Destiny Pitts had 15 rebounds to help the Gophers outrebound the Rams 61-33. Rams G Jailyn Maddox, a sophomore, scored a career-high 18 points and Rams F Bria Gibson, a junior, had a career-high 15 rebounds against Norfolk State.

Numbers: Pitts' 15 rebounds are the most by a Gopher since Jessie Edwards had 16 against Maine on Nov. 20, 2015. The Gophers have started each of Stollings' four seasons 2-0.

Injuries: The Rams had only eight players available Sunday. F Sandra Skinner, who started 18 games last season, G Taya Robinson and G Madison Hattix-Covington were sidelined because of injuries.
