The Gophers volleyball team rallied to beat Maryland 21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 21-25, 15-7 on Wednesday night in a Big Ten volleyball match in College Park, Md.

Junior outside hitter Daly Santana led the Gophers with a career-high 23 while Molly Lohman, a 6-3 freshman middle blocker, had 10 blocks.

Minnesota (17-11, 7-10) swept the Terrapins (9-19, 2-15) in three sets on Oct. 10 at home.

• Winona State's Ryan Gerts, a senior linebacker for the Warriors from Bloomingdale, Ill., received the NSIC's Glen Galligan Award, given to an athlete based on academics and a contribution to his institution. He was active in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization and volunteered at elementary schools and retirement homes. Gerts, a three-time all-conference pick, has a 3.37 GPA as a pre-dentistry major.

• Don Berry, the head pro at Edinburgh USA, is tied for 50th after two rounds of the Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament in Winter Garden, Fla. He is at 7-over 151.
