Local pitchers Chris Anderson of Centennial High School and Tom Windle of the Gophers have signed contracts with the Los Angeles Dodgers, who made the pair their first two picks in last week’s amateur draft.

Anderson, taken No. 18 overall, signed for slightly more than $2.1 million while Windle, a former Osseo High School athlete who was the 56th overall pick, received $986,500. Both bonus amounts were the designated slot amounts for their respective draft positions.

Anderson, 20, pitched at Jacksonville University after leaving Centennial, has touched 97 miles per hour with his fastball.

Windle overcame a shoulder injury as a sophomore with the Gophers to post a 6-4 record with a 2.14 ERA this season.

Veilleux re-signs

The Wild re-signed veteran winger Stephane Veilleux to a two-year, $1.175 million contract Wednesday. It’s a two-way contract, meaning he would make a lesser salary if he plays at AHL Iowa. He would have to clear waivers to get there.

Veilleux, who has played 382 of his 460 NHL games for the Wild, appeared in 33 games for Houston last season and two playoff games for the Wild after not playing in any regular-season games.

Greenway has surgery

Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway had successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday and is expected to be at full strength for training camp in late July, coach Leslie Frazier said.

Frazier also said linebacker Nate Williams, signed in April as an undrafted free agent, had minor ankle surgery.

• Lauren Hall of Optum Pro Cycling won Stage 2 of the 2013 Nature Valley Grand Prix in St. Paul, finishing ahead of teammate Jade Wilcoxson in the first criterium of the six-stage event. Juan Jose Haedo won the men’s race. On Thursday, the Grand Prix travels to Cannon Falls for a 93-mile road race.

• Cole Nelson pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out eight as the Saints beat Fargo-Moorhead 6-0 at Midway Stadium. Adam Frost drove in two runs. … The Saints signed Billy Soule, who went 0-3 with a 2.67 ERA and nine saves in 20 games for the Gophers as a senior this year.
