Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could convince the world to love jumpsuits as much as he does. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Stu's Hunt Down: Ex-Wolves player Rashad McCants

Posted by: Michael Rand under Sports Updated: April 19, 2011 - 12:59 PM

Every week, Commenter Stu does this thing where he reminds you about a former Minnesota athlete. This week, he checks in on Rashad McCants. Stu?

The Huntdown

Name: Rashad McCants
Claim to Fame, Minnesota: taken 14th overall by the Timberwolves in the 2005 NBA Draft (three picks ahead of Danny Granger), the Tar Heel shooting guard played for Minnesota from 2005 until 2009. He showed flashes of being a legit NBA player at times (here he is going off for seven 3-pointers at Madison Square Garden the day after Christmas 2008), but just flashes. The excellent A Wolf Among Wolves blog details some of McCants’ issues during his time here, which included clashes with Randy Wittman, getting benched by Kevin McHale, half-hearted defense, heedless gunning, annoying his teammates, attempting to go one-on-one with LeBron James, etc. He and Calvin Booth were traded to the Kings in February 2009 for Shelden Williams and Bobby Brown.
Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: McCants was a McDonald’s All-American in high school and won an NCAA title with North Carolina in 2005, but later compared his time there to being in prison. As C.J. would like to remind you, he also dated famous-for-no-good-reason Khloe Kardashian for awhile.
Where He Is Now: his most recent basketball job was with the D-League’s Texas Legends. But McCants is more than just an athlete! He also has a hip-hop career under the name King Suni Blac; here is a highly NSFW link to his most recent single, “Ballin’.” If that wasn’t enough, he also starred in a pilot for a web series with Traci Lords called Booster Club. His character is a “bisexual leader of an upper class shoplifting ring." Of course.
Is He On Twitter: yes. His bio: “Lights Out Musician/Actor/CEO/Activist/Leader/Legend.” No @Humblebrag chance for him, then. [UPDATE from the prioprietor: Not only is McCants on Twitter, he re-tweeted the post and added in another tweet, "They have nothing better to do. Move on! I did."]
Glorious Randomness: Kardashian and her current husband, Lamar Odom, released a unisex perfume called Unbreakable in February. Since dwelling any further on that will have you jumping off the Washington Ave. bridge by happy hour, your mission in the comments: think of perfume and cologne names for local athletes. Examples: Kent Hrbek’s Ring Bologna Nights, Olé by Bryant McKinnie.
