The cat-and-mouse games continue with brand-new episodes of “The Tom and Jerry Show” that pay homage to the original theatrical shorts. In the first two installments, Spike goes to obedience school, leaving Jerry without a protector, and Tom uses a magic wand to bring the furniture to life. 4:30 p.m. Cartoon Network

The Six-Million Dollar Man would be pleased to know about “My Bionic Pet,” a new edition of “Nature” that looks at how innovative prosthetics increase the survival odds for disabled animals. Alas, technology has still not come far enough to give the dogs and cats the ability to move in slow motion. 7 p.m. TPT, Ch. 2

On the beat

“Women of Homicide” shines the spotlight on detectives in Cincinnati and Atlanta who don’t have any problem being as intimidating as their male counterparts. In the premiere, officers look into a drug deal that went bad and the murder of a business owner in front of his own home. 8 p.m. TLC
