A company called Solid Concepts says it has created a gun made entirely from 3D-printed metal, according to the Atlantic magazine’s website.
The company said the gun, shown here, can fire up to 50 rounds. Previous 3D-created guns were made from extruded plastic and able to fire one shot.
Scott McGowan, Solid Concepts’ VP of marketing, tried to assuage concerns over an apocalyptic world in which countless people were making their own guns. “There are barriers to entry that will keep the public away from this technology for years,” he told the Verge, citing expensive equipment and people who can operate it.
