MOORHEAD, Minn. — Demolition of a power plant whose generators date back to the 1920s will soon get underway in Moorhead.
Public Service officials are expected to award a bid Tuesday for demolishing the brick building, which is more than 100 years old. Demolition could begin late this year.
Moorhead Public Service general manager Bill Schwandt says the lowest bid is about $1 million. The Forum (http://bit.ly/1bPoj8l ) says the community has already spent about $700,000 on cleaning up asbestos and mercury at the site.
