Celia Kuenster started her final round with a bogey and shot 5-over-par 78 on Wednesday, but still won the Minnesota Women's State Amateur at Dellwood Hills Golf Club.

The Cretin-Derham Hall senior had rounds of 76, 71 and the 78 for a total of 6-over-par 225, one stroke better than the Gophers' Anna Laorr, who closed with a 73, the best score on the final day. Sarah Burnham and McKenzie Neisen tied for third at 227.

Loarr, who won the MWGA State Match Play Championship last month, went birdie, bogey on her final two holes. She will be a junior on the Gophers women's golf team this fall.

• Jay Pivec, who has 605 victories as a head coach, will be an assistant men's basketball coach at the University of St. Thomas. The past two seasons, Pivec led Dakota County Technical College to a 42-18 record.

• Brock Boeser of Burnsville had a goal and an assist as the U.S. hockey team beat the Czech Republic 5-2 on Wednesday in its first game in the under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Trnava, Slovakia.
