Well, that didn’t take long. Just a couple weeks after announcing the release of their first album in 27 years, Twin Cities music heroes the Suburbs have already issued the first track from the record. It’s called “Turn the Radio On” and it pretty well sounds like a classic Suburbs tune, with singer/keyboardist Chan Poling coolly channeling Bowie around buoyant horns and a catchy, bop-bop pop hook. Give it a listen below.

It also won’t be long before fans can hear the rest of the record. With support from the ongoing Kickstarter campaign, “Si Sauvage” will be available Aug. 27. That’s the devlishly cool cover art with the tune below (paging Sofia Coppola!). The band is playing the MN-Music-on-a-Stick concert at the State Fair with Trampled by Turtles on Aug. 30 and will probably do its own show soon thereafter. The guys are also booked to play the hip Mercury Lounge in New York City on Sept. 27. Hmmm, there sure are a lot of 27’s in this report.
