Djorn Buchholz, a long-time front office member for various incarnations of local professional soccer, is taking a similar role in Major League Soccer.
Saturday’s Minnesota United FC game will be Buchholz’s last with the team. He goes from vice president of sporting operations to director of fan experience with Sporting Kansas City.
Buchholz came to Minnesota in 2003 as sales and marketing manager for the Thunder. He later graduated to general manager, a job he held through 2009. He spent the 2010 season in Austin and returned for a two-year stint as CEO for the NSC Minnesota Stars and Minnesota Stars FC.
