Spinning a new web

“The Amazing Spider-Man” (8 p.m. Saturday, Starz) may not have lived up to its title at the box office, but I’m guessing it’ll swing some respectable numbers in its cable premiere, if only because casual fans will want to see how Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary interpret iconic roles.

Crescent City crisis

Hurricane Katrina can’t be blamed for all of New Orleans’ problems. “Blackboard Wars” (8 p.m. Saturday, OWN) looks at how the city’s John McDonogh High School has been tarnished with failing academic performances and hallway violence, and how a brave principal and educator are trying to do something about it.

Y’all come back now, heah?

“Welcome to Myrtle Manor” (9 p.m. Sunday, TLC) is the latest reality series from the Learning Channel, a network that appears to think that we’re dying to “learn” more about stereotypical Southern hicks. The “Manor” in this case is a South Carolina trailer park, whose residents include a former drag queen, a Goth wiccan and the operator of a hot dog business on wheels. Cue the “Hee Haw” theme song.
