Bernie Bickerstaff to interview Friday

His son J.B. is gone to Houston and Rockets coach Kevin McHale's staff, but Portland assistant Bernie Bickerstaff still will interview with the Wolves on Friday.
That will make him the third candidate -- Terry Porter was on in Monday, Mike Woodson on Tuesday -- in town this week with Don Nelson and perhaps a couple of others on deck either over the weekend or early next week.
Don't rule out the possibility, either, that J.B. could return to the Wolves without ever really working for the Rockets if his father emerges as Kahn's choice and if the Wolves offer him a clear promotion -- an associate head coach or some similar such title and the accompanying sort of salary -- over his current assistant's job.
Don Nelson -- and probably one or two other candidates -- is on deck after Bickerstaff, either Saturday or early next week.
Woodson today looks a bit more likely than he did yesterday, now that Detroit is expected to offer its head-coaching job to Boston assistant coach Lawrence Frank.
Frank and Woodson, the former Atlanta coach, were the two finalists for the Pistons' job and Woodson's interest in the Wolves' job look mostly like leverage to get the Pistons' job.
He arguably is the most logical, qualified candidate of the four known ones so far, but is he as uptempo and fast break in his marrow as Kahn says he wants from the next coach?
