Eden Prairie and Hennepin County are calling on state Rep. Kirk Stensrud to destroy brochures for an event he sponsored that improperly used city and county logos.

Stensrud, an Eden Prairie Republican who represents District 42A, is running for re-election. His campaign committee earlier this month organized the Senior Services Expo, where a brochure was handed out listing participating groups and their logos.

In a letter last week, county Chief Deputy Attorney David Brown said Stensrud "improperly involved and entangled Hennepin County into this campaign event" by using its logo, giving a false impression the county supported him. The county wouldn't have participated had it known the senior expo was a political event, he said.

In a letter about the use of the city's logo, Eden Prairie City Attorney Richard Rosow said Stensrud acknowledged that the handout "should not have included any logos without asking for permission."

Stensrud didn't respond to a request for comment.
