Here we go. Another close Minnesota election will be fought before the Minnesota Supreme Court.

"Republican Party of Minnesota State Chair Tony Sutton to hold press conference regarding petition filed with Minnesota Supreme Court," the party said this afternoon. Sutton will discuss the petition at 2 p.m. at the Republican Party headquarters in St. Paul.

The Associated Press reported that the GOP petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court seeking to force election officials to remove ballots in precincts where more votes were cast than the number of voters recorded. The AP cited a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because he didn't want to speak publicly ahead of the news conference.

"There are pools of votes where there are irregularities," GOP candidate Tom Emmer told Forum Communications Co. today in his first interview with a journalist since Election Day.

Check back on Hot Dish at soon to read all about their complaint and what it impact it may have on the gubernatorial race between Democrat Mark Dayton and Republican Tom Emmer.

That race is headed for a likely recount, slated to start on Nov. 29.
