Work on the Shady Oak Road interchange project at Hwy. 212 will start on Friday night, and that will likely spell delays for Hwy. 212 travelers.

The City of Eden Prairie and MnDOT will begin work on taking down the bridge at Shady Oak Road at 8 p.m. Friday. Both directions of Hwy. 212 will be closed, but traffic will be routed up and down the exit and entrance ramps at Shady Oak.

Both directions of Shady Oak Road will be closed to allow for Hwy. 212 motorists to cross without having to fight cross traffic.

A detour for southbound Shady Oak Road drivers will take them south on Bryant Lake Drive, then east on Valley View Road and north on Flying Cloud Drive. Northbound drivers will be directed to go south on Flying Cloud Drive, west on Valley View Road and then north on Bryant Lake Drive.

Bridge demolition is expected to be done by 5 a.m. Monday. At that time, all lanes of Hwy. 212 will reopen. Traffic on Shady Oak Road will share the southbound portion of the bridge, running one direction each way until November.
