Sophomore shortstop Tyler Walker's two-run homer capped a three-run rally in the sixth that gave the Gophers a 6-4 softball victory over Gardner-Webb at the War Eagle Classic on Sunday in Auburn, Ala.

Walker's blast over the right field fence was her team-leading fourth of the season, and it allowed Minnesota (10-7) to win after it had trailed 4-3 in the sixth inning. It was the Gophers' ninth victory in the past 11 games.

Gophers junior Sara Moulton struck out 15, including the first 11 Bulldogs she faced while the Gophers built a 3-0 lead. Gardner-Webb's first hit came on an infield single with two outs in the fifth.

Bree Blanchette's homer and Erika Smyth's RBI double staked the Gophers to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. It was 3-0 when the Bulldogs took the lead in the sixth, scoring four unearned runs with two outs.

U tennis trips 14th-ranked Huskies The Gophers men's tennis team upset No. 14 Washington 6-1 at the Baseline Tennis Center. The Gophers won four singles matches in straight sets, and got their other point when Leandro Toledo outlasted the Huskies' Marton Bots 7-6 (3), 5-7, 1-0 (7) at second singles.

Gophers fall in baseball finale Ryan Abrahamson's homer was one of only two Gophers hits in a 2-1 loss to Northern Illinois in the finale of the Dairy Queen Classic at the Metrodome. Dartmouth third baseman Nick Lombardi (6-for-12, HR, five RBI) was chosen the tournament's outstanding player as the Big Green finished 3-0.
