The game between the Twins and Royals at Kauffman Stadium has been rained out. Not a surprise because it's been pouring all afternoon here.

And they are worried about getting both games in on Saturday.

The teams will play two games on Saturday, with the first game schduled to start at 3:10 p.m.

Cole De Vries will start the first game and Liam Hendriks the second game.

The Twins also plan to call up righthanders Esmerling Vasquez and P.J. Walters tomorrow, the first day rosters can be expanded. Vasquez looks to be the starter on Sunday against the Royals.

It's been raining ever since the flight from MSP landed here at 11:30 this morning

.Right now it's just a steady, busy rainfall. The kind of rainfall that usually washes out games. This is rain from Issac, the former hurricane that has caused widespread flooding in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The Royals claim that they can get the game in. We'll keep you posted here on that. It's rained a lot, but the outfield seems to be taking it well.

Outfielder Matt Carson, who has replaced the injured Denard Span on the roster, should be here by now.

By the way, the Royals are inducting George Toma into their Hall of Fame. The groundskeeping guru has worked on the Twins' fields in Fort Myers for more than 10 years. Congrats to him!

Will check back later with updates from a soggy Kauffman Stadium.

UPDATE: The Royals still claim that this game will be played. I don't see it. Discussions, however, are ongoing.

The Twins will call up two players from Class AAA Rochester after the game, as teams begin to add September callups. Expect one of them to be Esmerling Vazquez, who might start on Sunday. Sounds like a few more will be called up in the coming days.

Class AAA Rochester will finish on the fringe of the playoff race. but the Red Wings played better baseball. "I don't think we would have been back if we had lost 90 games again," Twins GM Terry Ryan said. "I think they had enough."

Joe Mauer is getting a day off.

Ben Revere, who is in a big slump, is getting a day off.

Because of the rain, George Toma's induction ceremony has been cancelled.
