The victim in a Saturday morning shooting in Minneapolis has been identified as a 25-year-old Minneapolis man.

Jimmy Stanback Jr. died at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner. His death marked the city's seventh homicide of the year.

A ShotSpotter activation near 27th and Knox avenues N. alerted police to the shooting. Officers found Stanback critically injured at 2:28 a.m. Saturday. He died less than an hour later.

The shooting ended a bloody week on the North Side, where a 20-year-old man was killed a few days earlier when rival gang members opened fire on a group of people holding an impromptu memorial in the Willard Hay neighborhood.

Saturday's shooting did not appear to be related to the earlier homicide, said police spokesman John Elder. Both cases remain under investigation. No arrests have been made.
