Each Twin Cities dancer in 'Solo' won a McKnight fellowship that included money to commission solo choreography made expressly for them. Karla Grotting (jazz) selected Max Pollak of New York; Colette Illarde (flamenco) Manuel Reyes Maya of Spain.
Mifa Ko (ballet) performs a solo by Jerry Opdenaker of Florida, while Abdo Sayegh (ballet) selected Gioconda Barbuto from Canada. Laura Selle Virtucio (modern) chose Colleen Thomas (postmodern) of New York. Only Tamara Nadel (Bharatanatyam) stuck close to home, selecting her mentors Ranee Ramaswamy and Aparna Ramaswamy of Minneapolis.
