The celebrated poet Seamus Heaney will appear at the Guthrie Theater on Monday, Oct. 3 (7:30 p.m.), in a conversation with Joe Dowling, the theater's director.
Heaney's appearance is timed to the opening (Oct. 1, previews begin Sept. 24) of "The Burial at Thebes," a drama adapted by the poet from the classic play "Antigone" by Sophocles. Seamus' adaptation was commissioned by the Abbey Theatre in Ireland. At the Guthrie, Marcela Lorca directs the play.
Heaney won the Nobel Prize for LIterature in 1995.
Heaney's talk with Dowling is free to Guthrie subscribers, and $15 to the public through the Guthrie box office at 612-377-2224, and online at www.guthrietheater.org.
